Since September 2018, Google search results of a historical person or celebrity include a ‘HIS STORY’ or ‘HER STORY’ card that links to an AMP visual story of a brief timeline of the person’s life. We are now seeing more of this. For example, doing a Google search for “da vinci” on a mobile phone may show the card shown above. AMP story is a relatively new format, announced in February 2018 from the accelerated mobile page (AMP) project team, that promises immersive reading experience in a tappable, full-screen content.
These new timeline AMP stories are generated automatically with AI and are not dated. These search result stories are in contrast to the news or current event AMP stories from news publishers who have partnered with Google. The AMP story, as of March 2019, remains an experimental technology. Of the many publishers who have partnered with Google, only CNN, the Washinghton Post, BBC, and FIFA remains relatively active with weekly additions of AMP stories.
